Kenny Jack, Boatman and friend to many.

It is with great sadness that we learned last week of the death of Kenny Jack who passed away peacefully at home.

Kenny had been boatman at Hendersyde since 1972 until he retired as head boatman in August of last year.

Kenny was one of the nicest men you could wish to meet, with a keen sense of humour and a ready wit, which the writer felt more than once while Kenny patiently ‘corrected’ my cast, something for which I will be eternally grateful.   All at FishTweed and FishPal, would like to extend our sincere condolences to his wife Janette and his family and we are sure there are fishermen and fellow boatmen far and wide who would like to do the same.

His funeral will be held on Monday 9th July at 11am within the Borders Crematorium in Melrose (see link for map). Afterwards, all friends are invited to attend the Ednam House Hotel, Kelso. The family have requested no flowers, but donations may be made to Marie Curie Cancer Care and Cancer Research in lieu.
