An Amber FLOOD ALERT has been issued for Scottish Borders.
Heavy rain overnight Tuesday into Wednesday could cause flooding in the area. Due to uncertainties in the location of the forecast heaviest rain, at the time of issue it is not clear where within the area the greatest impacts may be, though the north and west Borders area is believed to be the most at risk. River levels are likely to rise during Wednesday morning, and peak by later in the afternoon. There will be a risk of surface water flooding in areas experiencing the heaviest rainfall, particularly in susceptible areas such as urban areas and roads. The time of greatest risk for this will be in the early hours of Wednesday. SEPA duty officers are monitoring the situation and will issue updates as appropriate. Please therefore keep checking their site.
