11th May – Beat reports Bluestone
Two nice fresh springers for the week, both caught on small flies and light equipment by Eddy Binder and Ian Flint from Yorks/Notts. The week promised more, but with water height dropping from 9ins on Monday to 7ins on Saturday, two fish was a decent result for such low water conditions. BlueStone has plenty of fresh fish in the beat, with most pools showing fish, but there’s evidence of diseased fish with sea lice. Hopefully with a rise in water over the next few days there should be good fishing in mid month. Comparison with 2012 shows only one fish had been caught by this corresponding date last year, but we kicked into action from mid May. Let’s hope for the same as last year for the rest of the month.
