Hawick Angling Club beat update The charity competition held recently by Hawick Angling Club on Acreknowe raised £150 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Condition over the past weeks have been challenging to say the least.
The sudden change in temperature has put the fish down with very little surface activity.
Day time fishing has been virtually useless. The last two hours of the evening has been the most productive but even then only the odd fish or two has been taken.
Anglers have also suffered the frustration of fish splashing at dry flies rather than taking them.
Small CDC and emerger patterns have worked the best.
Otters have been active on both Acreknowe and Williestruther Lochs and seem to have lost thier fear of man as they are swimming right up to anglers.
Lets hope for some cooler weather in the near future.
