From Willie Elliot at Tillmouth comes the story of Mr. Gavin Caldwell’s red letter day.
He say’s “Thought you would like to see the photographs of Mr Gavin Caldwell’s salmon last week on Tillmouth.
Memorable morning on the Tweed.
Mr Gavin Caldwell was fishing with Tillmouth Head Boatman Willie Elliiot when after only his fourth cast of the day he hooked into a fish of a life time. The 33lb salmon fought hard, taking 25 minutes to land, in doing so testing Mr Caldwells angling skills as he leaped a minimum of 7 to 8 times. The salmon weighed 33lb, measured 42 inches long, girth 28 inches.
90 minutes later he caught his second fish of the morning in the same pool at 25lb, this time the fish stayed under the water for the duration of the fight, testing both the ghillie and boatman. He also hooked and lost another fish in the same pool. “
Well done to Mr Caldwell and to Willie and his team, thank you so for sharing your experience with us.
