This weeks FishTweed report, Iain Wilson said “Its good to see that the beats on the Till are catching a few sea trout at the moment, this is an improvement in catches by comparison to last season. Its also good to see that these fish are a good size this year with fish in the 4 to 6lbs range being caught regularly, with a few double figure fish now appearing in catches too.
Tiptoe fishing is under-fished and a real treat for anglers looking to fish a very private borders beat. The fishery is within the grounds of Carroll’s heritage potatoes, set in the midst of spectacular scenery. The Carroll family who own the beat have farmed at Tiptoe since the 1930’s. They care for their environment and this shows in their beat.
The fishery is managed by Lucy Carroll & Yvonne who are extremely helpful and care about the customers fishing the beat. The online, printable virtual ghillie guide explains the pools layout in detail, how to fish them, access and departure spots etc. The guide is very well presented and between my colleague and I we fished nearly every pool – there is a lot of fishing to keep all levels of ability happy. Anglers must walk the beat to get the best of the fishing available.
Anglers fishing the beat should fish the upper reaches, I heard its not fished as much as other parts. I was lucky to connect with a fresh run salmon after six casts.
Tiptoe summer sea trout fishing. The beat also enjoys a good run of back end fish. Price for a days fishing £45.00.
